Ok I finally got my very own carbon steel sword....I know not to leave it in the scabbard, but how do I treat it so it won;t rust while hung on display??  Help!

I use RemOil, which is a gun oil that can be found in sporting goods stores. Aside from that, you can take a peek at the use and care guide on the Lundegaard Armoury site. It contains the basic care needed for carbon blades. The URL is: http://www.lundegaard.com/newweb/swordcare.htm

and people are ticking you off, it takes 42 muscles to frown. . .
and only 4 to extend your middle finger and say bite me.

Thanks mine Moulin Rouge!   But what if you're hanging said blade for a while?  Do I need to coat it in anything besides oil to protect it?

If you're gonna have it out for a while use a carnuba wax on it, i.e. turtle wax.  Never oil and wax at the same time though.

It might depend on the metal makeup of your sword. Mine is always out of the sheath, unless I'm wearing it and I have never had to keep anything on it other than oil.

Thank you thank you all!   Happy blade is now resting comfortably on my wall.  Looks darn good there too. Now to buy more and more steel, I got a lot of walls to cover!
