Well that's my good deed for the century. If you recieve an email about jdbgmgr.exe being a virus. Ignore it. The file is a debugging file an is supposed to be on your computer. I fell pray to the lie, it wont screw anything up on your computer if you delet it, not usually anyway, well hope I saved someone from doing it.

You're not the only one. Now, how do I 'Undelete' without the specific undelete software?

as long as you did not empty your trash, your ok, otherwise you need a Norton or McAfee product to recover it, assuming it did not get written over on the disc.

When I deleted it, I totally bypassed the recycle bin, so it isn't recoverable. I realized a little to late.

I think the McAffee product has a similar name, Rogue Wolf. It shouldn't be hard to find either of them though, so just go into your local software store and look around.

It has been my experience that McAfee sucks ass, at least on my PC. I am running Norton AV 2002, which automtically pops up when i am receivng an infected email.

BTW, what would cause my PC to be losing system resources? On startup, I am 88% free, but about 4 or 5 hrs later, sometimes sooner, I am down to 50%, then I have been as low as 7%. And nothing more running than what was on startup. And which is better, Me or XP?

From the IT Swashbuckler....

Norton AV has a process called RVTscan that runs at the most absurd times and it chews up resourses faster than a Rennie to Good mead and ale.
I would suggest setting the Norton scheduler to run at like 2 am or so that it would free up your resources for you.

Most definately XP. I have experience with both and XP is definately the better of the two. You have some serious control over just about everything compared to earlier Windows and it's way more stable than ealier versions as well. Almost all of the issues with older versions of Windows have been taken care of (at least for me). The biggest plus for me is that I can get rid of (or not install) IE. For me there is to many issues with IE that Microsoft hasn't approached and probably won't (can we say money?). Of course to get updates from M$ you have to type in the addy in the address bar if you're not using IE (Some people whine about that, but my god! All you have to do is type it once and bookmark the damn thing and go there once or twice a month!).

Another thing that people seem to have issue with is the activation that is required for XP. It takes a few minutes, so unless you make major changes to your computer, you don't have to worry about doing it again (even then all you have to do is reactivate it. It takes 5 minutes max). They also complain about not being able to use it on other computers like you could with older Windows apps. To me it's a bunch of idiots that don't know what they are doing or someone trying to cheat someone out of money. Either way, dumb!

I'm willing to bet most of the "bad" rumors you've heard about XP aren't true. Mostly hersay and bullshit from sheep.

In short, go with XP and sit back and enjoy the ride. Piece of advice, don't go with the upgrade. Save your pennies and dimes and go with the full version. You can transfer any existing files that you want without to much trouble (no more so than with any other setup). And if you check the 'Net, you can get the full version for the same price as the upgrade!

Start looking at www.pricewatch.com. Click on the software link at the top of the page. It should take you directly to "Operating System". If not click on that link from the Software page. Then choose the particular version that you want from the list at the bottom of the page and happy hunting.
