I saw that the letter of resignation thread was going off on a tangent and I have decided to see where it goes.

If you've ever been called a geek for any reason, here's your chance to strut your stuff!

What is the GEEKIEST thing you've ever done?

And since I am a guest in this humble forum o' men, I am prepared to sumbit my geek qualifications:

In high school, I was not only a geek, I was their QUEEN!  I was in marching band, drama society, I was that smart girl in honors class that everyone hated because I always messed up the grade curve.  I was also the only girl in my high school's chemisty club.  In college I was booted off the computer system for one year for hacking into administrative files.

My most recent geek accomplishment was about 2 weeks ago when my significant other tried to stump me by replacing his usual desktop wallpaper with a diagram of a molecule.  He was quite surprised when I looked at it, said "Caffeine!  Cool!" and left the room.

(Also, if you're going to mock me for being a geek, please be creative.  I've been a geek my entire life and I am very comfortable with it.  I have a great sense of humor, I'm not easily offended and I appreciate a good joke but damn, BE ORIGINAL!)

So, what is your great geek moment?

Hey Entropy...
You can get a caffine molecule t-shirt from thinkgeek.com .. here is the link: http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts/generic/2891/

Hmm.  Well as far as me and being a geek, in middle school I was in marching band.
In high school I was one of the two kids that teachers would get out of other classes to come fix their computer problems.  That earned me a solid reputation as a geek.
Lets see, I started wearing my hair long right when grunge/alternative long hair phase ended.  I played Dungeons and Dragons, Vampire the Masquerade roleplaying games, and Magic the Gathering religiously.

So to sum that all up... yeah.. geek.

Eh one of the more geeky things i've done in the past year and a half is wear computer geek logo t-shirts that say things like "Dont blame me it is a software problem" and "No, I will not fix your computer"
(purchased off thinkgeek.com) and had a bumper sticker that said "I read your email."

and last but not least... what has everyone at work calling me a geek....

I went to my first NERO Live Action Roleplaying game two weeks ago

So yeah... I'm a geek and proud.

Yup, you're right... LARPing is geeky enough (I should know) but the elf ears just send you over the edge.  ::silly::

As for me, I:
    • ran the projector in junior high
    • went to Bronx H.S. Science
    • played D&D from 12-15, then from 32 on...
    • liked and excelled in physics
    • started programming at age 10 (back in '77)
    • won 5th grade spelling bee
    • was a film studies and studio arts geek in college (yes I can use
mise en scène in a sentence)
• play computer games
• surf the web regularly
• oh, and there's that RenFaire thing...[/list]... and the list goes on...

...when I think of a classicly geeky moment (as opposed to my classicly geeky life), I'll post again.

Lots of geek shirts here.

http://www.pegasuspublishing.com/cart/index.html

I have the Dread Pirate Roberts one, and the League of Evil Geniuses one in polo style for work.
I'm an engineer, so that sort of stuff isn't lost on my co-workers.

I've been a guest at comic cons.

I've been on panels at comic cons.

Have worked security at comic cons.

I squealed like a girly girl on crack closing weekend at Tux (the September birthday weekend) when my friends, who made their annual trip to Tux brought me an 11X17 Alan Davis pencil illustration (which my friend's husband, one of Alan's regular inkers, then scanned, printed out in non-repo blue and inked it, so I got the original pencils and an inked version...and it's my favorite character (and Alan *rarely*, if ever, does custom pieces of art for people).

Dressed as Leia for a Boskone (when I was a freshman in college) -- went to get my hardcover copy of 'Dragondrums' signed by Anne McCaffrey and she signed it 'To Leia'.  :)
