Wore my blue ribbon to work.  Only one of our teenagers asked about it...
Does Corey have a missus and kenders?  Because maybe we should think about helping her since we really can't help him too terribly much right this second...

Puppy, Please let her know that our thoughts are with her. I am also willing to contribute some financial support. I'm sure that many others are too.

Yeah I'm surewe can do something with PayPal or somesuch- some of our artisans and craftspeople might want to also donate items to an auction for Corey and his family.
just a thought.

Just a thought on fund raising...

Have you thought about just setting up a fund account, at a local bank?  You, or someone else in the area, could set up a special fund raising account, for Corey's family, then post the information the bank gives you, for anyone that wishes to make deposits.  Flyers could be made up and posted somewhere they could be downloaded.  That way they could be posted to other websites and printed out to pass out at Faires and other rennie gatherings, as well.

Yeah, give me some time...  I could donate ceramic somethings...  Or send cash to an account or both.  That is the beauty of these two organizations...  We are a family and family takes care of its own...

I wish I could say no news is good news, but that really doesn't apply here...  My mum told me the other night that the heart-breaking part is that there won't be enough of most of those poor people to recover and bury.
Leave it to mum to bring up something so morbid...  I think she's as worried about my little brothers as I am...

either last nite or the night before, I was doing my normal crap, watching tv and using the pooter, when the news station i was watching was interviewing someone's wife. that person worked for cantor fitzgerald (sp?) as well.    not to come to conclusions, but they did say that all 700-some-odd workers are presumed dead.
downright horrid.

yeah. We lost someone from our church(actually his sister)- she worked for CF. Kurt and Karen were pretty broken up about it. They're doing ok- time has healed a little. It hurts knowing they hurt.

There was a very large memorial service held in Central Park over the weekend for the entire Cantor Fitzgerald family - I read between 3-6,000 people attended in honor of the 700 who perished.

The most gut-wretching thing I have seen on television since Sept. 11 was an interview with the Cantor Fitzgerlad CEO - who survived because he'd taken his five-year-old son to his first day of kindergarten.  The poor man lost his "family" that day, and vowed that he would personally care for every one of his 700 families.

Can you imagine this one man's state-of-mind?  To have survived as one of only a handful of his "family," and to have suffered the loss not only his business, but to know his business WAS those 700 people who perished!  I've tried to imagine losing 130 of my coworkers and simply cannot fathom it just at the coworker level, muchless at the owner, founder, CEO level.

My personal faith tells me all the souls who perished are yet with us, and will never be forgotten.  My prayers are for their loved ones who must somehow continue to live in the face of this unfathomable tragedy - and especially to the CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald ... may his burden be lifted by the prayers and help of all of us.

Corey Miller's Memorial Service

Sorry for the crosspost.  I put this in the NYRF area, but I'll put it here as well.

Hi all.  I have been asked to bring this to everyone's attention.

I've received an email from Cat, a friend of Corey and Stacey, with the information on his memorial service.  I'll paste it below.  The phone number is *hers*, not mine, FYI.

"The Memorial is this coming Sunday at 4pm

Sinai Chapels
162-05 Horace Harding Expressway
(off the LIE)

If anyone needs directions, they can call me at 917-509-2005

Also, there WILL be a get together back at Corey's moms place afterwards. "

Anyone who wishes to attend is encouraged to do so.  If you knew Corey, you also know that it is assumed that he perished during the terrorist attacks on the WTC, where he was one of the unfortunates working for Cantor Fitzgerald on the 101st floor.  As of this writing, he himself has not been recovered.  Please be as sensitive to this as you possibly can, especially when dealing with Stacey.  She needs all the strength she can get right now.  If anyone has any questions, feel free to email me and I'll try to get you the best answers I can.

As always,
Crickett

This Sunday at 4p, I and many of our brethren will be at faire, specifically CRF. We will recognize the loss of Corey at that time.

When you do, John, would you please involve Lars somehow?  He knew Corey just as we did and I know since he can't make the service he'd want to remember him somehow.

Thanks,
Crickett

P.S. Give Lars a big hug for me while you're there.  I miss being there doing set-up this week and seeing all my friends there.

TBC, where else would we do such a thing, but the Armoury, if  Lars is there, I am sure he will participate.

:( :( :( :( :( :(

Although I did not know Corey, his is a Rogue Brother and I keep his family in my prayers with the rest of the Familys of those lost.

Even though my festival B.A.R.F. is not 'til March.  I have placed a Blue ribbon across my Rogue Pin.

Come March, I intend to wear it for the run of the festival.
