Should Kevin Smith be pinned?
« on: May 12, 05, 01:13:54 pm CDT »

Not that I just want to start yet another stupid web based arguement or anything (even though I do so love them) but I've been thinking lately about my living heroes and near the top of the list (and someitimes at the top of the list) is Kevin Smith.

I'd like to get some input from the IBRSC and the usual peanut gallery here...should Silent Bob get a pin?  Yea or Nay and why?

He's also a local NJ boy too...

He's got alot to say and he's an Uber geek like alot of us... Not sure if he'll be as "into" being a rogue as say, #400 "Boomstick" but he might be cool with it...

I think he's pretty active on the internet as well. Maybe he'd actually post here once in awhile.

Though I'm a big fan, no actor whose most famous character can go through an entire movie an only say the "Chasing Amy" speech needs to be pinned.

Seriously, he's very smart and very funny, but we can't talk out one side of our mouths, as you and I do 6th, about "old school Rogue" behaviors and then turn around and pin Silent Bob.

Big B - I gotta agree with you except for one thing...have you seen An Evening With Kevin Smith?  He talks, acts and reacts like one of us.  If we ever catch him prowling NYRF I'll pay for the pin myself.

I did get to watch most of An Evening With Kevin Smith and thought pretty much the same thing.  He's so real, and in my opinion (which as a wench holds no weight around here, I know) I think it's a great idea...

Isn't Hugh Jackman a Rogue?

I have seen it.  Is that really why you want to pin him, though?

My point is that we talk a lot about how, whether nature or nurture, not all men are born Rogues.  Isn't part of being of being a Rogue the desire to be a Rogue?  If not, aren't you kinda just a jack ass?  A funny and smart jackass, perhaps, but just a jackass none the less.

Jackasses, aren't we all?  Our two famous members didn't know about us at all until approached...if I remember correctly both wanted in AFTER they learned of us via the invite.  Wouldn't the same hold here?  We invite him and if he's a Rogue he says yes and gets signed up.

I have faith you'll correct me if I'm wrong, B, and do it with the style and applumb of a meteor strike too.   8)

I say, sure, pin him!  He's made some highly entertaining movies (IMHO), and seems like a guy that would be fun to knock back a few pints with (at faire or not.)

Kevin Smith is imho, the epitome of a rogue.  He is a self starter, socially concious, and has his pulse on our...or at least my, generation.  I have met him and he is a genuine guy.  No hollywood attitude at all.  I am for it if the new guy has any say.
