I just sent my replacement pair back to the shop on Thursday so the calves could be stretched on this machine they have.  I talked to Susie at the booth last saturday and she said she'd call them over at the shop to tell them to expect them.  I'm hoping it wont take another year.   She said it shouldn't take long at all....

Well, perhaps things aren't dead in the water.  I was at NYRF a few weekends back and walked into Sandlar and saw pretty much exactly the boots I wanted - I asked about them and they were a size or two too small for my feet.  I talked to the sales guy and expressed my resigned frustration about the fact issues I've been whining about here.  He asks the booth manager to talk to me - turns out she's Sandlar's wife.  I try on a few boots to get the right size and then she has me write down my info and description of the boots I want.  I figured it was either an order or a dodge she was doing for me.  Next thing I know she whips out a cell phone and calls her husband directly and reads the order off to him and makes him repeat it back to her.  He was working the assembly line at the time and said he'd toos together a pair fitting the description.  She gets off the phone and tells me they'll be there waiting for me by final weekend.

Now we wait and see.  I refuse to get too anxious about this simply because I've been burnt too often but it's nice to have something to possibly look forward to.  I'll let y'all know.

I talked to Suzie as well a couple of weekends ago and she told me I could send my boots back and have them stretched about two inches on this machine they have.  I sent the boots out and found out this past weekend that now there is a chance that the boots cannot be stretched at all and if that is the case, they will custom make a new pair for me but only charge me the price of a regular boot instead of the custom cost.  There is not really a time frame available to me for this "repair" because the guy at the shop that stretches the boots is at the Ohio show.  Aggravation and frustration are my moods when I think about this.  Don't get me wrong, I love sandlars.  They are the best boots I've ever owned, it just sucks that I have to go through so many hoops to get my boots back...

Yup.  Boot quality 100% and climing.  Customer Service - jury's still out but the reports from them ain't pretty.

...and thank you very much for that paste post Scotsman.  As you can see from all the posts we love the product despite all the grousing about the difficulties in communication.  Here's for hoping for a new age of dialog between Sandlar and the consuming public.

Should I make any calls or emails, do you think, to make sure the boots I ordered through Nancy at NYRF will be at Faire last weekend (the 24th I think) or should I just saunter in assured they'll be waiting to be exchanged for cash?  Despite my attempts at keeping cool about everything I'm still excited about getting a new pair.

So a resolution was reached at the booth this past weekend.  My boots are going back to the shop and will be cut down the side and patched back up to accomadate my calf.  Suzie went out of her way to help resolve this issue and I walked out of the booth an extremely happy person.  She told me the boots will get shipped back out today and I should have them in a few weeks.

Good luck buddy.

I'm so hoping SoS yanks their asses out of the bad rep they're mired in.  Fantastic bordering on indestructable footware hampered by an inability to achieve passable customer service.  Suzie was telling me that their staff, when they go to full production, lives in the workshop for the most part making massive numbers of boots.

Hopefully they've made a pair for me to purchase when I head back up to NYRF.

Well, well, well...I got a reply to my email to Sandlar.  I described my visit to the NYRF booth, Susie phonin in my order and her promise they'd be ready by last day and that I have a pair of SoS Noble/Cavilier styles taht are almost old enough to drive.  Here's the reply:

Ron,

We are very happy to hear that you are satisfied with your old pair of
boots.  Maybe its time to set up an appointment at the DMV.

We are always working to get out boot orders as soon as possible, but
sometimes our production schedule limits our ability to get to them right
away.  But if Susie spoke with Simon about them then we will be hoping to
get them in the time frame you requested.  The soling process takes some
curing time and usually causes a bit of a delay, but we will be in touch as
soon as the boots are available or you can stop by the booth and say hello
if you happen to be at the show visiting.  Susie should be in touch with you
directly in order to confirm the arrival of the boots at NYRF.

Thanks again for your order and we look forward to seeing you at the booth.
