the seven knightly virtues:
« on: Apr 17, 08, 12:21:17 pm CDT »

1: courage

2: justice

3: mercy

4: generosity

5: faith

6: nobility
although this word is sometimes confused with "entitlement" or "snobbishness", in the code of chivalry it conveys the importance of upholding one's convictions at all times, especially when no one else is watching.

7: hope

i'm posting this because there are many people, men and women, who are very angry at me since i've stated "NO i will not fight females of any age at anytime for any reason". but these are my convictions that i live by at all times. this being the case, according to the 7 knightly virtues i would be considered a noble man.

I am a newbie member of the SCA, I'm 51 years old, I have decided to take up fencing in the SCA, but I've also made it clear that I will not fight women or girls, I will not spar or practice with women or girls. I've told them I don't hit women, I specifically used the word no and they must take no for an answer. And some people are really pissed off about that. Yes I'm a rebel and I speak my mind

Dude...no one was upset because you said you won't fight women. People are upset primarily at these two ignorant comments.

they aint got no damn business with a weapon anyway.
so the women in iraq are not brave, they are violating the united states code and the uniform code of military justice.

Based on those comments you're about as noble as a pile of fucking dogshit.

Die already would ya'?

For the record, I am not angry because of your choice not to fight women.  As I stated  - that is your choice.

However, see what Pathos has put up.  Quotes directly from things you wrote here.  That is why people are angry, fed up, agast, irate, dumbfounded, amused, and just plain sick of your stupid, misinformed and inane drivel.

Go the fuck away.  You may be noble in your own little mind, but you sure as hell are not respected nor wanted around here.

1: courage
from someone who lurks and threatens to leave becuase he's been blasted for stupid comments?
2: justice
and whow would you dispense justice to the women who are breaking the law by serving in Iraq
3: mercy
do you consider it mercy not to fight women - are you being merciful to them?
4: generosity
in bad opinions and horribly stupid statements yes
5: faith
in your on inanity
6: nobility
no you haven't really upheld your convictions you've sought justification for them from others so, not so much
7: hope
okay this one I'll give you - you hope that your newest posting will not elicit the same responses you got last time
i'm posting this because there are many people, men and women, who are very angry at me since i've stated "NO i will not fight females of any age at anytime for any reason". but these are my convictions that i live by at all times. this being the case, according to the 7 knightly virtues i would be considered a noble man.
A truly noble man would never name himself as such - he would accept the honor with grace and humility from others

oh and BTW - this isn't the Knight's board - it's the Rogue's board....

Judging by what I've seen of you, you lack courage (you didn't even stick around to fight for what you believe in, you flaccid prick), you lack generosity (you sexist, chauvanistic weakling), by your own words and actions you lack nobility and from what's happened, you have no hope of surviving here on the board.

Die.

Preferrably slowly and in excruciating pain.

Fuck!  I was hoping that most of the rogues here had no virtue!  CARPE BOYEM!  I have HOPE and FAITH that I ever get to meet any of them, I would get to take advantage of their GENEROSITY!  Nothing better than a rogue with erect COURAGE!  I doubt I would be begging for MERCY...prolly screaming for more!

Nobles...blech.  Give me a rogue (or two) anyday!

Exactly - we Wenches want a Himbo around every now and again.

Can't imagine any Wench worth her bodice wanting assbag around.

How dare you quote Knightly Virtues here Sirrah, you lack the understanding and meaning and the true spirit of them.
This is not the Armour Archive and if you wish I will be more than happy to forward your thread to a few Ogre's and Knights I know in the society, esp the ones in Atlantia.

I have no issue not fighting women, that you sexist prick is your prerogative. But to lambaste against women in the armed forces is reprehensible and quite dishonorable.

I know of these virtues and yes while still being a Rogue I do uphold and try to live up to them in my way.
I have written on the subject and have studied many of the martial disciplines searching their meanings and reflecting on them.

These Knightly Virtues are what was romanticized through literature and edicts through the Holy Mother Church so that the Knights and their soldiers would stop the Raping and Pillaging of the lands and the people during the 3rd and 4th Crusades and the wars between the sovereign European nations

It takes more than Wiki to know the meaning of these 7 "Knightly" Virtues.

I'm curious... where'd 'honor' go?  Isn't that a virtue?

And Gardo... I love you.  "Sirrah"... daaaaaaaaaaaaamn!!!

You need to have respect for women in order for honor to be included.

Hence why Commander Craphole left it out.

Sirrah, indeed.

It is one thing to talk about exemplifying any code of conduct if you are actually trying to live by it.

It is quite another to post it so that you can twist the meaning of the words to suit your purpose.

It shows no respect for the Code and casts you, yet again, in a very bad light there kenny.

Go fall on your sword please.
