What kind of steed do you ride?
« on: Sep 15, 08, 05:44:42 pm CDT »

Being a rogue, I'm sure more than a few of you have motorcycles out there.  I sold my cruiser and got a rice-burner a coupla years ago and am in the market again when I get back home for a liter bike.

I'm interested to know what you ride.  Post your pics of your 'other' girlfriend.  ;)

I currently own a 2000 Honda VFR 800F1.  I wear full Frank Thomas leathers because of our nutty traffic here.  The below pics are from my amateur photographer nephew so I was acting up as a poser since I don't have any other pics of me on my bike.

Anybody else ridin out there??

Nothing since the mid 90s, but gas prices and beautiful weather are giving me the itch again.  I used to have a Yamaha Virago 750 that I really enjoyed riding: shaft driven with a soft tail. It was sweet.  I grew up on Honda and Yahama dirtbikes and had a Kawasaki Enduro that I rode to high school before I bought my first pickup. This is not my bike, but it looks just like mine did, except it's shinier and new looking. Mine was bug splattered and dusty most times.

Cool, nice bike.  That MC is similar to the 1992 Suzuki Intruder 800 taht I had; shaft driven, water cooled with custom mag wheels and of course the soft tail.  I loved the way that bike sounded...dual pipes one on each side.  But I discovered I'm much better at sport bike riding than cruisers although they are the bigger hit on Bike Night @ Hooters.  :-\

MMMMMMMM.....motorcycles.....

Got ride of my Fat Boy about two years ago and have been without since....

The husband (who also arrived without a current bike) and I are considering getting a really done out bagger and I'll just become an accessory at this point.  But a new bike is on hold until we sell my second house which I still own after two years.....THEN an Ultraclassic Electraglide....purrrrrrr......

Derek was surprised when I said he could have a motorcycle.

I have yet to ride one.

Maybe you should have a long talk with my wife - she's forbade me to have one until our kid is grown.

Wow dude really?  I'd buy you one if you really wanted it!  I guess I don't get the whole "telling my husband what he can and can't do" part...if we have the money..WTF not?  Life is too damn short...

Now Mage - good bike.... suits you....

Me?  I luvs me a man on a bike....I think I've decided to forgo a new bike for myself and put more money into a nice bagger for the two of us and become an accessory at this point.

if we have the money

There's the rub right there.  Our fun funds are pretty pitiful these days so if I want to take a nice ride with the wind in my face it's my Jeep Patriot with the windows down and the sunroof open FTW.  ;)

well see that could be a problem....but as soon as you get the funds you need to get a bike (though I have a feeling it'll be a big wheel for the little noob... ;) and I can totally see you trying to ride that thing down a hill...)

My tastes run more towards the two person long range cruiser bikes instead of the rice burning crotch rockets.  I love the idea of getting on a cruiser and vanishing for a week with little more than a wad of cash in my pocket and a couple changes of clothes in the saddlebags.

Febreeze and gold bond powder can work wonders when you need.
