A change of the guard, so to speak.
« on: Feb 06, 09, 07:37:18 pm CST »

it is being reported that Doug DeTroy is no longer part of REP.

From what is being said, Vince is now General Manager. Vince used to run the Colorado faire years ago and I have it on good authority that if you ever needed to get to know two people, Vince and his wife Wanda are the two you want to know.

Vince was brought in by REP this past season to help Doug, since Doug's health was so bad from Lime disease. I spoke to Vince several times last season and he really seems to be a genuinely good guy. He is a Ren Faire person and he has started and/or run other faires as well. He was working on the getting the new Oregon faire started before the NYRF season started.

I think the fair is in good hands.

Even though I've never met Doug before I am sorry to hear about his health problems. I do hope that he is at least doing somewhat better right now.

Well, the scuttlebutt that's going about is he wasn't doing so well healthwise and that's why he is no longer with REP. Just hearsay at this point though.

It sorta of is a shame in a way, he really did have a vision for the faire, but I think it was at odds with REP's hierarchy.

I'm one of those people that folks tell things to, even though I don't know them, or want to hear it (think of the Doors song, "When you're strange"), but some folks are going to be glad he's gone, while others are going to miss him. Me personally, I got along with him and he always took time to talk to me if I had questions.

Well based on what you said it sounds to me like he is a pretty great person.

I know this is somewhat off topic, but is the Oregon faire a go now? Is there a way to find out?
