Wow.  That does look good.  The synopsis reads well.  The original film worked well at a slow and more classical story pace but I think this new version will do well at the crack addicted hummingbird speed modern audiences favor.

That.. is quite the visual.

Sam Worthington.... Prison Break?

And how about Liam Neeson as Zeus?  Fascinating.

I'm with Dmitri on this.

I mean other then the title of the movie, this is nothing like the original.

So just call it something else.

Looks cool visually, lets hope they have kept most of the storyline intact. Hollywood has a way of screwing up the best of Mythology's tales.

Since when did I become the optimist in the room?  Then again I did enjoy the G.I. Joe film too.

I liked the GI film myself.

..but this seems like a compeltely different movie andf they are just tacking on the title to get people like us to watch.

yes, yes, necroposting and all that... you can spank me later.

So?  It's been out a week.  Who's seen it?

And yes, Bubo makes a cameo appearance.  Leterrier and Worthington butted heads over it.  Leterrier wanted Bubo, felt it was a proper nod.  Worthington hated the owl, felt it had no place in the new film.

Not bad, all in all... great popcorn flick and 3D is, as usual, quite fitting.  Did get tired of Neeson's Sparkly Suit, however.

I caught this last night with the wife. It was a good movie but you need to go into it as a retelling not a remake

I thought it was good but not great.  We don't have have the 3D version of anything here so it was nothing really special for me as  far as the effects go.  Wasn't smitten with the main character's wardrobe-too much of a Russell Crow roman gladiator look. The scene with Bubo was a nice nod to the original but they could have done so much more here with Calibos.  I would rather have had Carrion in the cloak and hood rather than looing like a set piece from the Mummy But it looks like he brought along his undead mumified buddies to help things along.  Monty Python still has done the best version of death that I have seen (other than death itself).  Like you said good popcorn movie but I doubt I will buy it on DVD.

And there is no nudity-what's up with that?  Even the original had some.  I hope the new Sinbad remake turns out a little bit better.  Be cool if they used some Loreena McKennett in the soundtrack.
