Title: Name that Tune
Post by: Magnus on Nov 07, 02, 10:52:55 pm CST
This is just like the title says. Guess the name of the song from the lyrics given. I'll give you an easy one first:

What's got you so jumpy?
Why can't you sit still? ya
Like gasoline you're gonna pump me
And leave me when you get your fill, ya

Any guesses?

A few of you out there will get this.

Squall's out on the gulf stream, big storms coming soon.
I passed out in my hammock, god I slept till way past noon.

Stood up and tried to focus, hoped i wouldnt have to look far,
knew i could use a bloody mary, so i stumbled next door to the bar

That one was to easy. I'll try a harder one:

I'm going out tonight-I'm feelin' alright
Gonna let it all hang out
Wanna make some noise-really raise my voice
Yeah, I wanna scream and shout

It's a Weird Al song. Spoof on a very popular Grunge Rock song, the first of the genre as a matter of fact.

Smells like Nirvana

Geez why didn't I recognize this one???::reye::

At 4:30 in the morning, I'm milking cows
Jebediah feeds the chickens, and Jacob plows, fool
And I've been milking and plowing so long that
Even Ezekiel thinks my mind is gone

I'm a man of the land, I'm into discipline
Got a bible in my hand and a beard on my chin
But if I finish all of my chores and you finish thine
Then tonight we're gonna party like it's 1699.......

Magnus,

Bad Hair Day-

The one Coolio got so pissy about!  ;)

Here's a winner:

Was it love
or was it the idea of being in love
or was it the hand of fate
that seemed to fit just like a glove

The moment slipped by
and soon the seeds were sown
the year grew late and neither one
wanted to wait alone

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!! ::rofl::

My 9 year old knows the words to "Roll me over in the clover" and she HAS known them for a few years now!!  She knows it's not appropriate for her to sing it in public though....however, I bet if you asked her at faire she'd break into song!!

She also knows tons of the verses to "Roll your leg over".  If I'm stuck on one she's always right there helping....her favorite by the way is "Sharks in the sea".

She also knows "Put your shoulder next to mine and pump away" atleast the chorus.  And "Follow the band" which she learned at GARF.

That's what I get for having a kid who might be more of a Rennie than me!  LOL!

I loathe and despise that song, ("Hot in here")and my little sis always wants to listen to it when I (rarely) am around to give her a ride to work.  She's the only one I have to actually use the "I get to veto any music played in my car" rule.  Although I very nearly died laughing when the girls from the local improv group (two good friends of mine) grabbed some audience members and made them dance and sing it.  They were doing a scene in hell and that song was the 'magic dance to make it hotter.'  The fires apparently weren't big enough...

And as for Dropkick Murphys or Flogging Molly, love em!  Great fun and good energy music.  Always makes me want to get up and do something.  Admittedly, said something is going to to pub and getting in a fight, but tha sound like fun anyway!   And I'd love to see the frat boys looks when little, odd me kicks their rears!!!!  Will get CD's as soon as I have spare cash (when hell freezes over)  Till then, it's borrowing them from the roomie!

I use KazaaLite to download what I can't afford to buy. I will buy the CD eventually if I like it enough, but it's not really cheating them out of money anyway. The record labels get most of the money from album sales.
If you really want to support an artist, go see them live.

BOY: Yes.
GIRL: Will he offer me his hunger?

And so the story's told of a hearty group of men it's a tale of their triumphs and their woes.
Be it raids and melees ancient or the modern worker's struggle
that inspires men to stand up for their rights.
And should we fall down by the wayside in this ever-changing world
we can look back to these heroes of our past.
With their staunch determination and ferocious iron will,
no tyranny would quell them in their task.

reaching over to my CD collection... it's "Over at the Frankenstein Place".

As far as the questions... *pulling out of the air*

Dr Frankenfurter put the stockings on Dr Scott, as he did with Brad, Janet, & Rocky for the floor show.

He was able to move his legs was due to an overdose of magnetism from the "triple contact electro magnet"

and, it was her way of saying that she wanted to go to Disneyland instead of Transylvania...

Gotta love 80's music.

Most of it's better than what they play now. Most of the rock they play now either sounds like someone recovering from a horrid hangover hovering over the toilet or like a cat choking on a hair ball. And there ain't a whole lot of country music I can listen to either.

Song 1:

We're headed for Venus
And still we stand tall'
Cause maybe they've seen us
And welcome us all

With so many light years to go
And things to be found
I'm sure that we'll all miss her so....

song 2

Keep on walking that road and I'll follow
Keep on calling my name I'll be there
And if the mirror should break
It's easy to take
Deep down I know that you care.

Song 3:

When lights go down

In every time
In every season
God knows I've tried
So please don't ask for more

can't you see in my eyes, that this might be our last goodbye.

1: You do what you want to do
I'll leave it all up to you
In time, I'll find love again
Hot love growing cold
Just when you thought you'd found a heart of gold
Looks like I been fooled again

2. I just want to take you somewhere you haven't been.
Find an old time movie where we don't know the end.
Lost in the radio. Drive another mile.

3. And I need some sympathy here
And I want a love to call my own

1: You do what you want to do
I'll leave it all up to you
In time, I'll find love again
Hot love growing cold
Just when you thought you'd found a heart of gold
Looks like I been fooled again

"Heart of Gold" Neil Young?

Nope *as I sit back with a bottle of tequila...*

Well it's Friday Evening, 6:00
And all My friends are twisting off
I'm at the house just turning on T.V.

This might be a hard one, but then again maybe not since you uys guessed Lover's Leap so quickly.

"Come out and write your letter, you know it will be better anyhow
You're gonna laugh again
You're gonna smile again
You're gonna love again"

Here's one from early rock. "Just you know why. Why you and I"

Sorry, I just read thru the entire thread, and there's a couple I couldn't let go unanswered.

Magnus,

Bad Hair Day-

Was it love
or was it the idea of being in love
or was it the hand of fate
that seemed to fit just like a glove

The moment slipped by
and soon the seeds were sown
the year grew late and neither one
wanted to wait alone

Here's one:

There's a tire 'round my gut from sitting on my [butt -- note, never sung, a drum beat substitutes], but it's never gonna go away."

here is one from a fav 80's band...

"Oh to be near you in the first morning light
I'd be with you, I dream about you
If I could leave here, I would leave here tonight
I'd be with you, I'd stay with you tonight"

and an easier one.

"I got pictures of naked ladies
Lying on their beds
I whiff that smell and sweet convulsion
Starts a-Swelling inside my head
I'm making artificial lovers for free
I start to howl I'm in heat
I moan and growl and the hunt drives me crazy
I fuck like a Beast " ::hdbang::

Heres one folks:

I play in a band, we're the best in the land
We're big in both Chelsea and France
I play one mean guitar and then score at the bar
There's a line of chicks waiting for their chance
So come on now honey, I'll make you feel pretty
These other gals mean nothing to me
Let's finish these drinks and be gone for the night
"Cause I'm more than a handful, you'll see

Lets see who gets this one!

Here's an oldie

Well I used to wake the morning,
before the rooster crowed,
searchin' for soda bottles, to get myself some dough...
run'em down to the corner, down to the country store..
cash'em in and give my money to a man named_____________

Finish the line, and name the band

I've got one......

And Mary McGregor, well she was a pretty whore
She'd always greet you with a smile and never lock her door
And on the day she died, all the men in town did weep
For Mary McGregor finally got some sleep....

Name that gentlemen!!!

(and ladies)
