I plan on going Thursday December 26th...the LATE show. Crossing my fingers that the place won't be mobbed, as I hate crowded theatres.....

BTW. Yes I'm back from the cruise. Yes I'm tanned the color of asphalt.  Yes I'm alright with the cold.  The cruise kicked ass, thanks :) Ok back to the topic.

I saw it yesterday. It was GREAT!!

I've stopped comparing the book to the screen and just enjoyed the movie as it was. True there were discrepancies and some points where I said...HUH??? But overall it was just kick ASS!  They did pretty darned well with getting every character's story and it was often pretty funny!

There were also some places where the entire theater just went wild.  Some of my favorite stuff, without giving away the movie, are:

1: Legolas and the Horse
2: Legolas and the Shield
3: Gollum
4: Meeting The White Wizard
5: The White Wizard in the Castle at Rohan
6: 'You're Late'
7: '.........just don't tell the Elf'
8: "The march of the wooden Elves" as I call it. You'll see what I mean.
9: The East.

:)  It rocked!!!  I'm going to go see it again tomorrow.  Oh and watch for the part where everyone wants to start shouting 'Just KISS ALREADY!' ;)

Gah! Why can I not remember what the legolas and the shield thing is? I saw it last night.

Brennan and Bayne spent 15 minutes after the film just looking at each other and going "Dood! Helm's Deep!"

My only complaint was the obvious CGI. Some of the effects looked almost like the old monster movies with claymation. Overall, though it KICKED ASS!!!

So, my list of things I want:

I want elf armor BADLY
I want ALL[/i]of Eowyn's outfits
I want a ballista like the one the Urak-Hai used
I want a big dragon-like flying beast that I can ride
I want a troll to open and close my door for me
I want a big eye made of fire. It would look great in my living room.
I want to be able to shoot like Legolas... or any elf for that matter
I want Eomer.
I want Shadowfax (when you just need to send paperwork to the Dark Lord... use a Shadowfax!)
I want bleach that will allow all of my whites to shine like the White Wizard's robes.
I want the Return of the King to come swiftly to theaters!!!

I'm so jazzed!  Daniel's buddy Liam is coming down tomorrow for the weekend so I told Daniel to wait unti Saturday and I'd take them both to see it....and now I'm sorry I told him to wait --- because it means *I* have to wait.

Tomorrow!  Yee-frellin'-ha! ::thumbs::

Did anyone else think that the Gollum looked kinda like Don Knotts or that guy that Snake Plisken rode in the convertible with in Escape from LA?

Steve Buscemi...yesss!!!!!!

Saw it last night...awesome!!!! Gonna see it twice more times!
had a few minor issues with it...f'r instance

1) Haldir was never at Helms Deep with the elves....tho it was cool.

2) When Sam says "We're not supposed to be here" after they are dragged to Osgilioth by Faramir...He's right! They never went! that whole thing with the Nazgul/rider never happened!
3) Theoden was supposed to be grey, and not rejuvinated... and how about the fact he took an orc spear to the shoulder and shrugged it off?
4) Aragorn never took a header off a cliff fighting the wargs.

other than that, it friggn rocked.

"Do you want me to get you a box?"

a little too heavy on the comic relief for Gimli, but great all around.

That scene is the one that gets shown on all the previews for it. He's riding down stair steps and hitting his targets.

Btw, did anyone get Legolas' and Gimli's final count during the Helmsdeep battle?

Saw it today,   :!:  12:30 matinee and the theater wasn't that crowded. I so can't wait for Return of the King.

"My only complaint was the obvious CGI. "
I have to agree with that.  Legolas and the horse was awesome but it was so obviously CGI, that I didn't enjoy the effect.  Sometimes it was hard to follow the action because it moved SO fast.

Yeah and considering the battle at Helms Deep was a major arc and they devoted a lot to it, I think maybe they should have devoted more time to it, but then again they will release the extended version of it...as for the CGI- anyone remember Merry and pippin on the Troll's back? of course it's going to look fakey- that's a near impossible thing to make look real-when you consider the fact that there were maybe a couple dozen actors on the battle field in  reality, it's still pretty darn impressive!

Two Towers rocked,  cannot find any complaints about it,  it was just awesome.  I got to admit, Gimili and Legolas were quite the comedy relief throughout the movie.  The part where just before the battle at Helm's Deep where they are showing the elf archers linned up, and they pan across the battlement and all you see is Elf, Elf, Elf, Elf, Top of Helmet, Legolas, Elf, Elf  was hysterical.... as was Legolas asking Gimli if he should describe the scene below or get him a box to stand on had me crying....

The Ent's were great also..

Cannot wait til "Return of the King" is released next year

Saw LOTR last night with my 18-year-old and my 11-year-old.  I just gotta say I enjoyed it thoroughly.  My 18-year-old is hacked he has to wait until next year to see the third film.  The cinematography was spectacular and I even liked the animated stuff.  But what I liked most - OK second only to the really gorgeous men - was the costuming.  It's become my passion - from garments to accessories to makeup - I love it all.

I agree about the comic relief, too.  Gimli explaining why so many think there are no dwarf females was hysterical - especially when Aragorn threw in the "it's their beards" comment.  And the reparte between Gimli and Legolas throughout the film was great.

My only regret was when the leader of the Elf archers (gawd was he fine) bought the farm.

Ok, as a Tolkien fan , I've gotta add my 2 pence here.  The movie was Fan-FRELLING-tastic . . .but it was*not* the book.  Yeah, I know, "gotta make it short enough for the theatres" and all that, but some of the changes were just . . .bone headed.  Just-fer-example the Farimir-takes-hobbits-to-Osgiliath sorry but that wasa bad change.  the book version was better because a) it showed him to have more character, and b) the same piece of story as JRRT wrote it would have taken about the same amount of screen time to cover.  Entmoot was a bust too . . .I just don't like some of his choices in editorial changes to the book.  I did like the elves at Helms Deep though (gotta find the elven swords somewhere, I like the sword/spear) -- and Legolas 'boarding down the stairs on the shield was a nice touch.
Like I said . . .excellent movie, just not the book.  But I think I've gotta see it again, just to be sure!

nacy took me to see it on my bday. I think it rocked.
she's not a JRR fan and she's loving both movies. in fact she grabbed my copy if the return of the king and started reading it 2 days ago.
