Title: Friday - The future is worth fighting for.

Jayne: Don't see much point getting involved in other people's troubles without an up-front price negotiation.
Zoë: As I said, no-one's forcing you to go. This job is purely speculative.
Jayne: Good. Don't know these people, don't much care to.
Mal: They're whores.
Jayne: I'm in.

So, who's all got plans to go and see Serenity this weekend?

Yep...It oughta be easy down here.  Generally not much interest in Sci-fi
other than the Vader genre'  I think it does these folks good to here who
their father is    (Luke, I AM your father...and your uncle on your mothers side)

Oh hell yeah.  Had the girlfriend watch the pilot last night since she hadn't seen any of it yet.  Will try to make it through a few more key episodes before 10:00 Friday night.

Geez, just saw this synopsis on Fandango:

Quote
Set 500 years in the future, crew members of the spacecraft "Serenity" fight against "The Alliance," a government agency that has taken control of the solar system following a war shortly after colonization. Considered outsiders, the crew members struggle to avoid the Reavers, intergalactic thugs who eat their enemies alive, as they try to save a telepathic teen named River Tam from The Alliance.

Can they make it sound any worse to someone unfamilliar with the series?  :x

Although Joss Whedon assures the audiences it's not needed it will help you get all the in jokes.

Not really, the movie covers certain aspects of the T.V. series in regards to the plot. I suggest that you do watch the series, cause it's good.

3!?!  I told that screw bag five or he'd never see his pet gerbil again!!!  Hm....house curret, blender or...duct tape?

6 hours and I get outta work.
8 1/2 hours until I get home.
8 hours 34 minutes until we get to the theater down the street and buy tickets for the first available show (unless we're going over to Gardo's to see it by him then it's on his schedule).

I CAN'T FRIGGIN' WAIT!!!

That's 3 out of a possible 4.

And I'm not sure I've ever seen them give anything 4.

So 3 is very good.

Saw the 9:45pm showing last night with Gardo and our wives.  If it's any clue if I liked it or not...I'm going to see the 10:45am matinee of it again today.

Muc of it was a tad more...grim...than we're used to from the series but all the elements are there.  I'm not spoiling nothing but lock yourself down when you go.  This one is a major ride; I must'a gone thru every emotion last night watching it.  The nice part is that, since it's a movie, they can tell the story at it's own pace so in some spots where in the series they had to cut stuff short or speed stuff here here the longer moments can be played long and the fast parts of the story are way damned fast.

I'm still all sorts of choked up over a few parts including the scene where Wash delivers the above line.

Damn AWESOME!  :o

I am fairly new to Firefly, I've only seen two episodes on scifi but I quickly got attached to these characters. My wife, who I had to drag away from her Yankee game, liked it and shes not much into this genre. Planning on picking up the dvd set real soon.

At the showing we went to last night, they had prizes one could win... t-shirts and posters. I have my very own tshirt with the Serenity logo on it... she wanted someone to do something interesting... like sing... so I belted out "The Man They Call Jayne".   And I loathe singing in public. I wanted that tshirt damnit!

We stopped off at WalMart on the way home, and I bought the book Serenity based on the screenplay. I have lots of shiny quotes now.  8) My current favorite is:

"Goin' on a year now I ain't had nothin' twixt my nethers weren't run on batteries."

A couple of weeks ago my boyfriend bought me the "visual companion" book to the movie, which contains the shooting script. I promised myself I wouldn't read it until after I'd seen the movie, but of course that didn't work out. Even with reading the script I was still so in love with the movie. I went to see it last night with the man and as soon as I can arrange it I'm going to take my mom to see it. She loved the show too so I know she'll love the movie.
I think the movie was just brilliant and there are just so many nice moments between the characters.

"Can we talk more about the part where Jayne gets dropped by a 90 pound girl 'cause that just never gets old."  --- Wash

I've seen it twice and I still want to go back and see it in theaters again.  As soon as we can preorder the DVD of the film you can be your last gorram credit I'll be one of the first to reserve it.

We are going to go back and see it again... and will be at the store at midnight to buy it when it comes out.

I finished the book (all in all I read it probably 3 times, only once in order). The book really adds a lot to the mindframe of River.

I have way too many favorite parts of the movie...

Need more!!!

Per IMDb: According to the Q&A with Joss Whedon and the cast after the premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, there were at least 20 separate takes of the final make-out seen between Simon and Kaylee in the engine room, with take #20 being the one used in the final cut.

That lucky bastard.    Whedon must've owed him money or lost a bet or something.  "Naw, didn't like that one, one more take please..."

So would I, but Joss said there was no possibility to that. :(

Universal has said if Serenity makes more than 80 million, then they will greenlight the second in the possible trilogy. That's what Joss and the cast are pushing for.

Funnier still would have been doing 20 takes and then in the final cut using take #1. :)

Speaking of Kaylee:  A) she's yummy and 2) in the DVD extras, Jewel said that she had to put on 20 pounds for the part because Joss wanted a "real" woman for Kaylee, not a rexed-out actress.   I'm still trying to figure out where those "extra" 20 pounds are, because I don't see any part of her that needs to lose it.

I spoke with her in September... she gained the weight for Firefly and had lost it again by the time Serenity was filmed. I saw her days after Serenity wrapped, and there was no way she had an extra 20 pounds on her. She definitely was curvier in Firefly though.
